Bella Duran, a Junior at Wayside: Sci-Tech Preparatory, reached for the moon and landed a spot at NASA’s Texas High School Aerospace Scholars program. She will be heading to Houston this summer for an all-expenses-paid, 6-day Aerospace camp.
When asked how she heard about the program, Duran shared that her Algebra teacher, Mrs. Powers, introduced it. Duran isn’t sure what to expect from the camp but is the most excited for the experience, the people she will meet, and getting to spend time at the NASA Space Center, which is somewhere she’s never been before.
Duran’s participation in the program this summer will help her with college applications and building connections in the industry.
While she hasn’t fully decided what she would like to study in college, she thinks it would be interesting to pursue a career that combines her love for art and space, such as mapping stars. Duran added that through opportunities like this camp, she will learn more and more about what she would like to study and turn into a career.
Her teachers and principals couldn’t be more proud and know she is going big places.
Congratulations, Bella!
